Food and Drink
We are very fortunate to have wonderful local produce available throughout Argyll, including fresh seafood, whether you choose to eat in or dine out. Within easy travelling distance of Seabank there are numerous places to eat. Hawthorn Restaurant in Benderloch is just a mile away. Seafood Argyll is famed for its fresh shellfish and Oban is known as the Seafood Capital of Scotland. You must try a prawn sandwich from the Seafood Hut on Oban pier! There are a huge variety of waterfront restaurants and cafes specialising in locally landed produce. We recommend Watt's Fishmongers in Oban if you fancy cooking your own. Whisky Argyll is Scotland's whisky coast with 14 distilleries in the region. No visit to the area would be complete without sampling the "uisge beatha" (water of life) distilled locally. Tours of Oban Distillery are available.
Local Produce As well as seafood, Argyll produces many other quality items such as wild venison, beef, hill lamb, cheese, craft beer and ales, chocolates and preserves. Oban's Jackson Butcher is recommended for locally sourced produce. See more about the region's wonderful produce at Food from Argyll. Fine Dining For a fine dining experience or special occasion there are also a selection of award winning restaurants in the area. The luxurious Isle of Eriska Hotel with Michelin starred restaurant is just a 5 minute drive from Seabank, and the gourmet restaurant at Airds Hotel with 3 AA rosettes in Appin is just 15 minutes away. Eating In The fully equipped kitchens at Seabank Self-Catering are ideal for preparing your own meals. Oban has 3 supermarkets with Tesco delivery available and Benderloch has a well stocked shop only 5 minutes away.
